General Information

How to get to CERN:

Travelling by plane, from Geneva International Airport - Cointrin

Taxi - approximately 35CHF.
Bus - The International Airport of Geneva offers all arriving passengers a free "Tout Geneve" ticket, which is valid for 80 minutes, available from the automatic ticket machine situated in the baggage reclaim zone.
Take bus number 57 direction "Gare Vernier-Meyrin" and leave at the stop "P+R Planche". Then take the bus number 56 until you arrive at the final stop next to the CERN entrance.

Travelling by train, from Geneva Railway Station - Cornavin

Tramway and Bus - Take tramway number 14 towards "Meyrin-Gravière" and leave at "Vaudagne". Take bus number 56 until the final stop at the CERN entrance.

Travelling by car

From Switzerland:

Follow signs for "Aéroport", "Lyon" and "Meyrin". Once you are in Meyrin, follow signs for "St. Genis" (France). Before reaching St. Genis, the CERN site is on your left on "route de Meyrin", just before you reach the border.

From France (département of Ain):

Follow signs for "Gex" or "St. Genis". When you reach the border, CERN is on your right immediately after passing through customs.

Network Connection Requests - External Visitor's Computer Registration: Please note that registration of portable computers is mandatory at CERN and only registered computers will get network access. Should you require a network connection while at CERN, please use this link: connection request.

Location :

The school will take place on both Swiss and French territory. Students must ensure that they have the necessary documents to entry into Switzerland and France. Selected candidates coming from non-European (Schengen) countries will be provided with an invitation letter that may facilitate their application for a Swiss visa.

Registration fee:

There is no registration fee to pay, but you or your institute will be liable for any other expenses (travel, accommodation and meals). 

Accommodation:

Students will be housed at CERN Hostel.  Single and double room accommodation are available. Your room will be assigned according to your request on a first come, first served basis. Rooms have been reserved from Sunday, 30 January until the morning of Saturday, 12 February.

Single room : 58 CHF/night
Double room (shared with another participant): 38.5 CHF/night

Restaurants:

All meals can be taken at CERN cafeterias, at the following approx. costs:
Breakfast : 5 CHF - Lunch : 15 CHF - Dinner : 15 CHF
